Chelsea transfer news: Blues set to give up on pursuit of AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain
Chelsea are set to end their pursuit of AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain due to complications surrounding the deal.The Argentina international is on loan from Juventus and a deal is in place for him sign permanently with theRossoneri this summer, with Milan having an agreement to buy the 31-year-old for 32m at the end of the season.2

According to Goal, this arrangement has deterred Chelsea from going further with their interest as they see having to negotiate with two separate clubs as a stumbling block and will now look elsewhere for a centre forward.Maurizio Sarri had previously worked with Higuain at Napoli to great effect during the 2015/16 season, which saw him score 38 times in 42 appearances.The Chelsea boss is unsatisfied with his current striking options. Olivier Giroud, sidelined with an ankle injury, has just one Premier League goal this season, while Alvaro Morata has not scored since October.2

Chelsea began the campaign in fine form, scoring 27 goals in their opening 11 league matches, but have found the net just 11 times in their last 10 games and their most recent game was a 0-0 draw with Southampton at Stamford Bridge.Christian Pulisic was Chelsea’s first signing in the transfer window, joining from Borussia Dortmund for 58million,but has been loaned back to Dortmund for the remainder of the campaign.
